Betta Fish Spotlight: Ryder

Ryder is a fairly new addition to his family. After the loss of a red veil tail named Renegade, betta hobbyist Becky King needed something to fill the void--and the empty thank. So off to her local fish store, (Fish Heads of Ocala, FL) she went!

Ryder is "...super friendly...he loves to show off..." (@kanansai). When she went to the pet store, "He was one of the few that showed interest [in her] when I was looking at them" (@kanansai).
Despite all of the flaring and posturing, however, Ryder has yet to build that infamous bubble nest most male bettas are known for.

Ryder shows off his perfect rays.

Although she's only had him for two months, he's about a year or so old. Most fish and pet stores keep bettas up for sale until they are either sold or they pass. Unfortunately, this makes it impossible for hobbyists to know their age--making it impossible to breed them. Thankfully, however, Ryder is a family boy, not a breeding boy!

Ryder has a big family, too. He is one of twenty-four bettas, four children, one dog, two kitties, one chinchilla, and one water dragon!! His mama loves him just as much as everyone else though, and his friendly personality makes him a perfect addition to his family.
