Betta Fish Spotlight: Pineapple the Facebook-Famous Fish!!
"His attitude is my favorite thing about him, he has a lot of personality," says Jessica Weiss Slomba, the owner of Pineapple the--now Facebook famous--yellow crowntail betta.
Jessica was first drawn to Pineapple by his bright yellow coloring, and when a woman on Facebook mentioned his pineapple markings, the name just stuck!
Jessica is a member of Betta Fish Keepers, a Facebook page dedicated to those who love and care for bettas. There, her Walmart baby found instant fame with his adorable face and pineapple-like coloring.
Soon after finding fame in this little circle of Facebook, Jessica started the Pineapple the Fish Facebook and Instagram pages. (@pineapplethefish) The hashtag #pineapplethefish cropped up in her and other people's posts, as lovers of her tiny friend showered her with pineapple-themed, well...everything. From tank decor to household items and toys, Pineapple was definitely on the forefront of everyone's minds.
Jessica went on to say, "I'm still so surprised that he's so popular. He's kind of taken over our lives between tank maintenance, photo shoots, research, etc. But that has settled down drastically this last month. Now it's just
fun!"
And fun it is indeed. Pineapple's Instagram is littered with photos and videos of the betta yawning, flaring, and hanging with Jessica's daughter (Who, by the way, loved the name Pineapple.)
So remember, "Be a PINEAPPLE. Stand TALL. Wear a CROWN. And be SWEET ON THE INSIDE."
